Despite the A1 coverage of Mideast revolt and its accompanying imagery (i.e., a map if the unrest, a photo of a guy pulling a burning dumpster through the streets), Column One's story about a mining town that was destroyed because it was part of a superfund site left the deepest impression today. It's a story that has the finality of an obituary; there's no third-act redemption for Picher, OK.
